Fossatti Pawlak provided engineering services to Goodman Real Estate in its seismic upgrade and renovation of The Downtowner Apartment Building, renamed The Addison on 4th Avenue. The 100 year old building has 254 apartment units and is equipped with innovative technology.
Carbon fiber reinforcing was added to existing concrete walls for seismic strengthening. This technique had the lowest impact on existing units and maximized floor space. Goodman also installed an innovative solar thermal heating system that will supply hot water in the building; reducing carbon omissions by 275 metric tons a year.
