Roslyn Library Renovation
Fossatti Pawlak Structural Engineers was selected by Bola Architects www.bolaarch.com to design seismic upgrades for the historic Roslyn Public Library, built in 1902. It was originally used as a community gathering place and social hall for the town’s coal miners and their families.
It was badly damaged in the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake and was in need of major structural repairs.
Our role included the design of a new foundation, shear walls, and building diaphragms that added seismic stability for the heavy timber building. In addition to the seismic upgrade, the lower level was renovated and new entries created.
